Our rural part of the state exhibits amazing efforts on the part of many people to create strong communities. It takes special members, giving their all to ensure a resilient community. Family Health Centers looks to recognize these folks among us with a summer event titled, “Celebrating Leaders in Our Community.” This event takes place during the Community Health Center Week as part of our vision to promote and improve the health in our community.

During this event, we celebrate individuals that exhibit moral and ethical courage and set an example to everyone in our community. We are targeting the whole community, meaning we would like to recognize individuals of different ages, gender, ethnicity, and beliefs. We will celebrate them and the communities they serve with music, health screenings, fun activities, and of course a recognition ceremony.

Every year we invite community members to help identify and nominate leaders in their respective communities. We are so pleased to celebrate the following distinguished individuals that represent their beautiful respective community. These leaders are:

- From Brewster: Gene Dowers, Patricia Baird, and Marlen Guzman
August 14, 2019, from 2:30 am to 5:30 pm in Columbia Cove Park, Brewster

- From Tonasket: Alisa Weddle, Salley Bull, and Norm Weddle
August 17, 2019, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm in Tonasket Triangle Park, Tonasket

- From Omak: Jon Winans, Brian Goff, Clare Painter, and Lauri Jones
August 24, 2019, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm in American Legion Park, Okanogan
